HOW IT FEELS TO

jam with a professional composer and recording artist.

...exhibit and explore art in New York City.

Advanced art classes recently painted work for a downtown New York City hair salon, and a local restaurant featured a summer exhibit of students’ acrylic paintings. Classes visit museums, artists’ homes, graphic design agencies, animation firms and college art departments.

… perform at Radio City Music Hall.

The Rebel Tones Show Choir has performed at Radio City Music Hall, Tiffany’s at Garden State Plaza Mall, The Shops at Riverside and “Good Day New York” on the Fox network. Several SRDS students have performed on Broadway.

We love learning that feels like this.

Through the arts, our students feel the joy, energy and freedom of expressing themselves fully.

Every child has the chance to explore the visual and performing arts at Saddle River Day School. More than 14 courses are offered each year in studio art, graphic arts, dance, vocal and instrumental music and theater, and the arts are often incorporated in academic study through STEAM.

We believe that not only are the arts worthy of study in themselves, but that creative expression leads students to become perceptive, inventive and able to interpret information in an entirely different way.

Our location near New York City offers world-class opportunities to experience the arts through trips to museums, artists’ homes, graphic design and advertising agencies, film and animation firms, galleries and college art departments.

Designing Real Work to Promote Nike

As a senior, Michael Crowley ’15 attracted professional attention for his digital illustrations. Here’s what he shared with his graphic arts teacher Keri Eisenberg:

“I got a message on my artwork’s Instagram page from a sneaker news page (@nicekicks – 1.5 million followers) that they want ME to do a custom piece of art for a special book they are making for the release of the 'Nike Air Mag' (the shoe that was worn in 'Back to the Future'). The founder and publisher messaged me.

“This is insane. The final book will be sent personally to Tinker Hatfield, the biggest designer in all of sneakers. He worked on the Air Jordan 3-12.”

If you’ve seen “The Devil Wears Prada,” “27 Dresses” or “We Bought a Zoo,” you’ve seen the work of screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna ’85. Aline graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and now lives in Los Angeles.

We Love Teaching.

Graphic arts teacher Keri Eisenberg worked in the advertising world for several years before she came to SRDS. She was the art director and conceptual developer for a BMW commercial that won a Silver ADDY Award. She has taught in several NYC museums.
